Memories

    Esther 9:28

"These days would be remembered and kept from generation to generation and celebrated by every family throughout the provinces
and cities of the empire
."

            During the Christmas Season, one's mind is filled with memories. Ronnie (my hubby) jokingly teases me about all 'the stuff' I have throughout the house.  What he doesn't really 'get' is that most of this 'stuff' represents memories to me.....not just Christmas, but year 'round. My heart breaks for those who have all sad or depressing memories.  This is the time particularly when we go out of our way to bless others.  Start with those who you've not any 'interactions' for a while. They  will certainly be blessed that you carried thoughts of them !!!

            I have been so blessed to have had Marilyn (Ronnie's sister) here for a couple of months, and three of us racked up some wonderful memories during that time.  This past Saturday night, our three 'Alabama' grandMunchkins came over.  We decorated the tree (actually, Stacy did the decorating, and the kids and I laid on the livingroom floor playing).  After that, we all piled into their minivan and drove to see Christmas lights. The Munchkins squealed with delight. Talk about 'memories'.  We are so blessed and hope you feel the same.  Also, if you've not written to me lately, please do.

Have a great day. Maggie

Memories

Reading - Psalm 105:1-6

 "Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim His greatness.
      Let the whole world know what He has done.
    Sing to Him; yes, sing His praises.
      Tell everyone about His wonderful deeds.
     Exult in His holy name;
      rejoice, you who worship the Lord.
    Search for the Lord and for His strength;
     continually seek Him.

Remember the wonders He has performed, His miracles,
and the rulings He has given,
you children of His servant Abraham, you descendants of Jacob, His chosen ones."

                 I have only one remaining memory of my mother's father. I remember walking out into his backyard and towards him. I was only 3 when he died. He had a big smile on his face and even though he smoked big cigars, had nearly perfectly white teeth. My mother told me that he never had any teeth problems in his life and attributed it to the fact that he brushed with table salt!

                What makes that one meeting of many the only one that still remains in my memory, is that I was walking towards    a ride in his car police car. He was a small town cop!

                If it weren't for that one memory etched in my mind with a police-car colored "crayon," I would have to go by photographs and the stories of others to remember my grandpa Walter Ketchum. Memories are very valuable things. Among other things they can bring joy as we remember past blessings.

                Repeatedly in the Old Testament God reminded the people of Israel of their history. Psalm 105 starts with the line, "Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His Name; Make known His deeds among the people." The rest of the Psalm is a partial poetic history of Israel from Abraham to Moses. That history of God's deeds was to be shared with the world.

                Remember God's deeds in your life and you will be encouraged. Share those deeds with others and they will be encouraged and perhaps moved to follow the Lord too.
