This Is The Day

Psalm 118:24
"This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."

The first 'Praise and Worship' song I ever learned was 'This is the Day', and at my lowest,
I sing it out loud in full 'off key' voice.  I have said often that I cannot carry a tune with a
bucket, but the Lord doesn't care. Here are the lyrics to the first verse:

"This is the day, this is the day.
That the Lord has made, that the Lord has made.
We will rejoice, we will rejoice,
And be glad in it, and be glad in it.
This is the day that the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day, this is the day
That the Lord has made."

Now, if you really THINK the words as you sing them, before long you are smiling,
which is just where you should be.

Genesis 33:10
"But Jacob insisted, 'No, if I have found favor with you, please accept this gift from me.
And what a relief to see your friendly smile. It is like seeing the face of God"!"

If we truly reflect the Lord and His love, then we should be smiling all the time. There is
one particular lady who I've never seen not smiling (Hello, Weezy).  We first met her and
her husband, Dave, at Dollywood - and what a blessing they have been to us.  Weezy had
a stroke and is in a wheelchair, but her smile radiates and warms the entire bakery where
she sits every day. Dave works at Dollywood, so she patiently sits, reads, and generally
brightens the days of anyone who sees her, or anyone who is fortunate enough to sit down
at her table. God is using her mightily, and we all could or should use Weezy as an example
of how we all need to be.  However, it doesn't stop there.  Dave is fighting cancer, but one
would never get an idea of it from looking at him.  He, too, blesses everyone with whom
he comes into contact --- with his warm, genuine smile.  We just love this wonderful couple.
They are truly God's disciples and ambassadors, and I try really hard to emulate them.
Hope you have a 'smiley-face' day.  Maggie

"New Day"

"This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."  Psalm 118:24

Have you ever given any thought to the fact that God has been in the "day making business"
for a long, long time?  He has made every one of them since the first day-- "And God said, Let
there be light: and there was light.  And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called
Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day." (Genesis 1:3,5)  Each day, day in
and day out, for thousands and thousands of years, God has caused each brand new day
everyday.

What does that tell you about the Lord?  It tells me that He is faithful.  Each new day speaks
of
His faithfulness.  There has never been a time in history when He skipped making a day.
He
doesn't quit and He doesn't give up.  He continues to provide us with a new day every day.

It also tells me of His great power.  God has the ability to continually produce the resources
that
are needed to make a day.  He is not limited to supply what is needed.  His power is so
great that
the sun obeys His word and rises in the morning at the appointed time.  He is so
powerful that all
of creation stands fast by His word.

Lastly, it tells me that He is a wonderful provider.  If God is able to make a day, He is certainly
able to supply everything that we need each day.  As a matter of fact, it was in the six days of
creation that we first see what a wonderful provider He is.  When did He create man?  On the
sixth, last, day of creation.  Why didn't He create us on the first?  Or on the second, third,
fourth
or fifth?  If He had, where would we have lived?  We would have been floating around
in space.
Or what would we have eaten?  How would we have seen without light?  He created
us on the last
day after He had created everything for us that we would need.  When He
created us, everything
was already here waiting for us- the provision was already made.

I have to wonder if the dawning of each new day isn't also a sign from the Lord to us on a
more
personal level.  A sign, or perhaps a reminder of the faithfulness of God, of His mighty
power and
of His wonderful provisions.

Have a great day.  With each new day, let it encourage you personally that God is your faithful,
all-powerful, provider.

For further reading:

Psalm 33:9 - "For when He spoke, the world began!  It appeared at His command."

Psalm 19:1,2 - "The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display His craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make Him known."

Lamentations 3:23 - "Great is his faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning."

Psalm 97:6 - "The heavens proclaim His righteousness; every nation sees His glory."

Genesis 1 - "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  The earth was formless
and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over
the surface of the waters.

"Then God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light. And God saw that the light was good.

Then he separated the light from the darkness.  God called the light "day" and the darkness                                               "night." And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day.

"Then God said, 'Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the
heavens
from the waters of the earth'.  And that is what happened. God made this space to
separate the
waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens.   God called the space “sky.”  And evening passed and morning came, marking the second day.

"Then God said, 'Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground                                                        may appear.' And that is what happened. God called the dry ground “land” and the waters “seas.”

And God saw that it was good. Then God said, 'Let the      land sprout with vegetation—every
sort  of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then
reproduce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.' And that is what happened.
The land produced vegetation—all sorts of seed-bearing plants, and trees with seed-bearing
fruit. Their seeds produced plants and trees of the same kind. And    God saw that it was good.
And evening passed and morning                                               came, marking the third day.

"Then God said, 'Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them
mark  off the seasons, days, and years. Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth.'
And that is
what happened. God made two great lights—the larger one to govern the day,
and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set these lights in the
sky to light the earth, to govern the day and night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.                                           And evening passed and morning came, marking the fourth day.

"Then God said, 'Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let the skies be filled with
birds of every kind.'  So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries
and swarms in the water, and every sort of bird—each producing offspring of the same kind.
And God saw that  it was good. Then God blessed them, saying, 'Be fruitful and multiply.
Let the fish fill the seas,  and let the birds multiply on the earth'. And evening passed and
morning came, marking the fifth day.

"Then God said, 'Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the
same kind—livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild animals.' And that
is what  happened.
God made all sorts of wild animals,  livestock, and small animals, each able
to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.

"Then God said, 'Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over
the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the
small animals that scurry along the ground'.

   "So God created human beings in His own image. In the image of God He created them;
male and female he created them.

"Then God blessed them and said, 'Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it.
Reign  over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the
ground'.

"Then God said, 'Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth
and all the fruit trees for your food.   And I have given every green plant as food for all the
wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry a
long the ground—
everything that has life.” And that is what happened.

"Then God looked over all He had made, and He saw that it was very good!

"And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day."
