Repeatedly Smashed And Splattered

REPEATEDLY SMASHED AND SPLATTERED

Acts 27:41
"But they hit a shoal and ran the ship aground too soon.
The bow of the ship stuck fast,
while the stern was repeatedly smashed by the force of the waves and began to break apart."

Monday after shopping for groceries, I pulled up to the back door so Ronnie could unload the car and got STUCK. Early yesterday morning, Ronnie tried again to 'free it' from the bog with no luck and made it sink deeper. This morning, Robert (Ronnie's football buddy) and his twin brother Rudy (both turned 72-years old yesterday), Ronnie, and I worked out there in the back yard trying to get my car 'unstuck' from deep mud (especially under the front tires - and my van has front-wheel drive).  It took an hour, boards, shovel, cardboard, and 'muscle-power' to free it up.  Finally, I drove and all three guys pushed from the front -- getting spattered with mud, and drove it backwards until all four tires are on the concrete, leaving deep, mud trenches - maybe permanently forged into the 'grass area' of our back yard !!! Bottom line is that it's safe and secure on concrete now without having to call the local wrecker service. Maybe now,
I should plant a flower garden in those trenches since the 'holes' are already done

After this episode, I began thinking about how WE tend to get 'stuck' and 'bogged down' in trials, tribulations, stress, etc. Have you ever said the words, "Everything just keeps getting worse"?  Does it seem that as you're facing one problem, another one rears its ugly head? Most of the time, that's true.  You see, the devil attacks us, and when he gets one crisis going, and thinks that you are weak fighting it, he sends in another one, doing his best to distract you from the Lord and His Word. So, what can you do to avoid this?  You know that in THIS world, you'll have battles to fight - but my gosh - aren't we lucky and blessed to have God's army and HIS power on OUR side? Just call on Him !!!

As you know, I firmly believe in God's having His plan for us all, and sometimes I'm astounded by His timing.  Just when the devil starts 'nana-nana-boo-boo-ing', God sends us confirmation that He's still here.

John 16:33
"I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me.
Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows.
But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

Hope you have a blessed day, filled with peace and victories in His name.  Maggie

Today's Forecast
~A MountainWings Original by C. Nicole Freeman~

Due to some underhanded situations at work, I lost my job.

I had to refer to my favorite scripture that says, "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy will come in the morning."
So 3:00 am the morning after I received my termination notice, I began to write this...

Awakened from a slumber, you rise and pray,
"Lord let today be better than yesterday."

For yesterday brought humidity, clouds, and/or rain,
Some were clear, others brought with them pain.

Humidity where situations to handle alone were just too hot,
Yet you wrestled with the idea of giving them to God or not.

Storm clouds are going to rise, that's nothing, we can get by,
The only way through them is by giving God a try.

Rain will fall; it's not unusual that it may last long.
Don't forget, trials come only to make you strong.

To God always remain true,
Remember King David said, "Cast all your cares upon the Lord
For He cares for you."

Humidity, clouds, and/or rain, sun, snow or dew,
What will today's forecast be for you?

You're a Winner

"I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome
the wicked one." (1 John 2:14)

Man was created to be a winner. The Bible tells us so. We read in Genesis, for example, that man was originally put on this earth as a dominating lord. God gave him dominion over the earth and everything that crept, flew, crawled, and breathed there.

Man didn't even know what losing was until he separated himself from God through disobedience in the Garden of Eden.   When that happened, he ran headlong into defeat. He was forced to accept failure as his lot in life, lowering himself to a subordinate position--a position he was never meant to occupy.

It's a sad story. But if you're a born again child of God, your story has a happy ending. Through faith in Christ Jesus, you've been made a winner once again!

In fact, God has guaranteed your success. Let me show you what I mean. Imagine you're about to tackle a really tough job,  and before you even get started on it, God speaks to you right out loud and says, "I just want you to know, I'm going to personally see to it that this project you're working on succeeds."

Well, let me tell you something. You do have God's promise that you'll succeed. He said in His Word that you're an  overcomer! In Him you can overcome any problem the world throws your way (1 John 5:1-5).

It doesn't matter how much you feel like a loser. It doesn't matter how many times you've failed in the past. If you believe  that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, then you've become more than a conqueror in Him (Romans 8:37).

Does that mean you won't have any more trouble? No. It simply means you can go through that trouble and emerge triumphant.

If you've been feeling like a failure lately, renew your mind to the Word of God that says you're a success. Every time a challenge comes up, respond by saying, "Well, praise God, I can beat this thing because I'm an overcomer in Jesus!" Let      that Word from God abide in your heart. It will make a winner out of you.
