Energy Vampires

'Smile and laugh more.  It will keep the energy vampires away'.  I've been mulling that statement over and over, and thinking of how many times I've chosen to be 'serious', and it sucked the air right out of the room.

1 Chronicles 16:27 - "Honor and majesty surround Him; strength and joy fills His dwelling."

Yesterday afternoon, I had the pleasure of a quick visit with my youngest three grandchildren.  Have you ever been around
a three or four year old who says something which an adult ear finds silly, and certainly not hilarious?  Well, both Evan and Caden began with their new 'skill'... a 'knock knock joke'.  They would knock, knock on my shoulder or back (certainly I
was sitting on the floor) and say, 'Knock, knock' at which I'd answer the proverbial "Who's there?"  They would answer back their names, and I'd reply back .... 'Evan/Caden who?'  At which time they would begin giggling, and come back with non-understandable laughing words.  Nope, I couldn't 'get' WHAT they were saying, but their joy of saying it was a blessing
to me.  And, then I looked over at Stacy, who was also sitting on the floor, and she was nearly in hysterics.  It was definitely a 'Kodak moment'.

On the way home, I just couldn't stop thinking of the fun, and yes 'JOY', which was filling the air, thus their home, then my brain, transferring directly to my heart.  We all know when something 'serious' happens, our mind becomes a place with no peace from distress.  How many times have I told folks to not let the devil steal their joy?  OUCH !!  Shame on me for letting 'my' joy dissipate too quickly so very many times.  I pray I do much 'better' in the future.  Help me, Lord.

Romans 14:17 - "For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit."

Hope that your weekend is filled with undeniable and uncontrollable joy.  Maggie

'Christians Should Laugh More'
By Dennis Swanberg

Is Your Love Tank Full?

"Laughter is one of the fuels that keeps my relationships going. Our homes don’t have to be tombs of drudgery and gloom. Instead, they should overflow with laughter and joy. If you want your children to come home for holidays and reunions, make it a place worth coming home to. Make it a happy place to live and then a happy place to visit. You don’t have to be a stand-up comedian to accomplish this task. Just create a climate and circumstance where laughter becomes a part of your daily life.

"You’ve heard the saying, 'Life is what you make it.' That means we have a choice. We can choose to have a life full of frustration and fear, but we can just as easily choose one of joy and contentment."
