Secret of Success
"When praying, don't give God instructions....... just report for duty."

Deuteronomy 8:18
"Remember the L
in order to fulfill the covenant He confirmed to your ancestors with an oath."
How do you define 'success'? Some look to their bank account, some to a happy family, some think of their recognition by others, some look toward the 'celebrity' factor. Actually, here's what the Bible says about success:
Joshua 1:7
"Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you (The Ten Commandments). Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do." Proverbs 1:3
"Their purpose is to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives, to help them do what is right, just, and fair." I believe that true success (yup, a 'Maggie-ism') is knowing that we are doing everything possible to spread God's Love and His Word, to bless others, and to be a testament to our Lord. "Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age'." (Matthew 28:18-20)
Webster's defines success as "achievement of intention: the achievement of something planned or attempted: something that turns out well: something that turns out as planned or intended." Guess what? The Bible has something to say about 'planned or intended', too.
Ephesians 2:10
"For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago."
Jeremiah 1:5
“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.
Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as My prophet to the nations.” So, what are your thoughts on 'success'? Are you living an exemplary life for God? Do others know it? You know that my favorite poem is 'I'd Rather See A Sermon', and I'd like to think my goal is to be one, although I fall so short all the time. At least we need to try. God sees our efforts. Hope you have a wonderful, successful day. |
