Are You Suited Up Yet?

CBN.com – There is a battle out there and as Christians we need to understand that we must wear our spiritual armor. Do you ever remember hearing the song “Onward Christian Soldier?” In the lyrics it says we are “Marching as to war.” Yes, my friends we have left the losing team of the world and joined God’s army but there is another force out there that try’s very hard to beat us down. Even though we know are the champions on a winning team it is so important to put on the armor of God.
Prayer is the first thing we should do before we get suited up for the day. This is the way we get fortified and than we are ready to face the challenges that may arise at any given time.
Next we put on our armor. First we have the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit which is God’s word to renew our minds daily. All of us can withstand any negative defeating words that try to cause us to stumble if we know what the Word of God says in every situation. Second, hold up the shield of faith to quench those fiery darts hurled at our soul. Then we must put on our belt of truth and the breastplate of righteousness. Finally, our feet need to be shod with the peace of God everywhere we go.
If we remind ourselves that we are to be peacemakers, this will be a great weapon to do battle against the enemy of our soul. Everyday you have to check your armor to be sure nothing is missing. It is the only way to stand against any of the enemies’ tricks. God is our source of strength and we are to go out to do warfare in the power of His might using all the resources he has given us.
Shall we all march together as ambassadors for Christ, God’s great army of believers ready to do battle and to win the war that wages against our souls? We need to tell the Good News of the gospel, God's battle plan, to all we come in contact with so that they too can join the army and enter God’s Kingdom.
Lets get suited up; we already have our marching orders.
Ephesians 6:10-20 (NIV) the Armor of God:
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should."
