Prayer Guide For Those in Elected Positions

UPDATE of Prayer Guide For The Presidential Election'

It is critical that Christians pray.  There is amazing power in united prayer.  Please print out this prayer guide and pray daily until the election.  Pray with others whenever possible. The power of prayer can overcome any obstacle or ungodly influence and, indeed, do great things!  Please forward this to every Christian you know.

Psalm 32:6-7 - "Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment.  For You are my hiding place; You protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory."

Pray that Christians will be motivated to pray faithfully and that the Lord would deliver us.

Psalm 16:7-8 - "I will bless the Lord Who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me.  I will
not be shaken, for He is right beside me."

Pray that the Lord would give wise counsel and guidance to His choice.

Proverbs 16:13 - "The King is pleased with words from righteous lips; He loves those who speak honestly."

Pray that our nation will listen to the truth and not be led astray.

Psalm 18:32-36 - "God arms me with strength, and He makes my way perfect. He makes me as surefooted as a deer, enabling me to stand on mountain heights. He trains my hands for battle; He strengthens my arm to draw a bronze bow. You have given me Your shield of victory. Your right hand supports me; Your help has made me great. You have made a wide path for my feet to keep them from slipping."

Pray that the Lord would arm the man of His choice with strength; that He would guide him in battle, and that He would sustain him.

08/29-09/04
Hebrews 11:32-34
- "How much more do I need to say? It would take too long to recount the stories of the faith..... By faith these
people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them. They shut the mouths of lions, quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight."

Pray that God's man could, through faith, persevere and maintain his courage .

09/05-09/11
Psalm 125
- "Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount Zion; they will not be defeated but will endure forever. Just as the
mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people, both now and forever. The wicked will not rule the land of the godly, for then the godly might be tempted to do wrong. O Lord, do good to those who are good, whose hearts are in tune with You. But banish those who turn to crooked ways, O Lord. Take them away with those who do evil."

Pray that those who trust in the Lord will not be shaken.

09/12-09/18
Psalm 86:14-17 - "O God, insolent people rise up against me;  a violent gang is trying to kill me.  You mean nothing to them. But You,
O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. Look down and have mercy on me. Give Your strength to Your servant;  save me, the son of Your servant. Send me a sign of Your favor. Then those who hate me will be put to shame, for You, O Lord, help and comfort me."

Pray that the Lord would defeat those who have no regard for Him.

09/19-09/25
2 Corinthians 12:9
  - "Each time He said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast
about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me."

Pray that the Lord would empower and enable in any area of weakness.

09/26-10/02
 II Kings 13:16
- "Elisha told him, 'Put your hand on the bow,' and Elisha laid his own hands on the king’s hands."

Pray that the Lord would put His hands the President (and his team) and guide them.

10/03-10/09
Proverbs 1:5-6
- "Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. Let those with understanding receive guidance
by exploring the meaning in these proverbs and parables, the words of the wise and their riddles."

Pray that God's man will listen with discernment, add to his knowledge, and receive wise counsel.

10/10-10/16
John 16:33
- "I have told you all this so that you may have peace in Me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

10/17-10/23
Acts 17:30
- “God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now He commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to Him."

Pray for repentance for yourself and for our nation.

10/24-10/30
Luke 12:54-57 - "Then Jesus turned to the crowd and said, 'When you see clouds beginning to form in the west, you say, ‘Here comes a shower.’ And you are right. When the south wind blows, you say, ‘Today will be a scorcher.’ And it is.  You fools! You know how to interpret the weather signs of the earth and sky, but you don’t know how to interpret the present times'Why can’t you decide for yourselves what is right?"

Pray that our nation will be discerning and do what is right.

10/31- 11/06
Phillipians 4:13
- " For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength."

11/07-11/11
Habakkuk 1:5
- "The Lord replied, 'Look around at the nations; look and be amazed! For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn’t believe even if someone told you about it'."
Habakkuk 3:2 - "I have heard all about You, Lord. I am filled with awe by Your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as You did in years gone by. And in Your anger, remember Your mercy."

Pray that the Lord would do something that would utterly amaze us and give His servants victory.

Acts 14:23 -  "Paul and Barnabas also appointed elders in every church. With prayer and fasting, they turned the elders over to the care of the Lord, in Whom they had put their trust."

Remember 2 Chronicle 7:14 - "If My people who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Prayer is a powerful part of the political process. If more Christians would spend the time praying that they spend putting down candidates, maybe things would turn out differently. Thanks for this list of Scripture. What a great resource for churches.
